WE ARE DROWNING IN PLASTIC WASTE

 

There’s no argument that plastics have greatly benefited humankind, but the benefits and convenience have come at a great price. We made it and now we depend on it. We are literally overwhelmed with the problem. This is the great plastics conundrum. It is a serious problem that science failed to properly predict. 

It’s not just the images of common household waste swirling in vast garbage patches in the open ocean or tangled up with wildlife that have made plastic pollution into one of the most widely reported environmental issues of our day. Micro particles formed by the breakdown of plastics into the environment are an even greater threat to our planet and consequently, human health.
